As most of you know, my sister has been unable to drive for the last six months, meaning I have had to cart her butt around! So, her six months is finally up, we went to the doctor to get the paper filled out for the State of Michigan on Monday afternoon.
We get to the doctor's office, wait like good little girls, then my sister finally gets called back (after 45 minutes!), she comes out 10 minutes later, really pissed off. So, I ask her what is wrong, she says "NOTHING, LET'S GO!!!", so I ask where her paper is, she said "THEY WOULDN'T SIGN IT", so we go into the hallway, I ask her what really happened, she starts crying, they won't sign it, blah, blah, blah.
So, I go into the office, I'm always looking for a fight!!! I start talking to the lady in the window, who starts getting rude saying that they have worked out a plan and that Dr. Hasan is going to bring the filled paperwork to Monroe on Tuesday, well, here is where my problem began, WE HAD NO WAY OF GETTING HER TO MONROE ON TUESDAY, Monday was our only day. So I started bitching about how we need it today, it has been six months, all the rest of the stuff too. She says she is sorry, it is against office policy to fill out papers right away. I told her I didn't care what her policy was, so she told me she'd work on them now (after 15 minutes of arguing), then I get called back by the office manager (WHO KNEW NOTHING), she said she couldn't do it right now, so I called her out and said she had four people working back there, one of them could do it, it was a 10 question survey, very simple. I told her to have it ready by 4:00.
At 3:30, we went back to the office, wouldn't you know, the form was filled out. That took all of 15 minutes!! We opened the envelop to see that the form was filled out WRONG!!! We went into the office to explain to them why it was wrong. Here's the problem, you'll get a laugh out of this:
Problem Number 1- The paper asked how old were you at your first episode- their answer- 20,
correct!! But, the problem comes with the next part, Date of LAST episode- 2001!, Hello, in 2001 she was 16, how exactly does that work???!!!!
Problem Number 2- There are 2 questions, one says has the patient had a seizure in the last six months, the second one asks if the patient has had a seizure in the last 12 months. Their answer: She HAS had one in the last six months, but NOT in the last 12 months. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN????
So, when we go back in, they won't change it, why you ask? because that is what their charts say. How in the hell can that be what is in the chart when the first time she was ever at a Neurologist was a month and a half after her March 2006 seizure. They know she has not had one in the last six months, that's the whole reason she came in for the appointment was that it HAS been six months.
So, we go to the secretary of state to see if by chance they will accept it, which of course they will not! Her primary doctor will not fill out the form since they referred her to Dr. Hasan, but they agreed that Dr. Hasan filled the paperwork out wrong. NO SHIT!!!
So, she called Hasan's office, they will not change the paperwork, so Roecker (her PCP) called them with all of the dates of all of the seizures, good news, Dr. Hasan's office DOES NOT CARE!!! So, today, she has to go there AGAIN to see if they will fill it out correctly, then she has to fax it to Lansing, and they have to approve it, which could take up to a week.
I faxed the form to Hasan's office first thing this morning with a letter asking them to fill it out since she has NOT had a seizure in the last six months, so we will see what we get in about an hour!!
I feel really bad for my sister, she has waited her time and they won't help her.
If anyone has any suggestions on who we should file a complaint to, please post! We are going to get something accomplished through all of this.
Moral of the story: IF YOU HAVE NEUROLOGIC PROBLEMS- DO NOT SEE DR. HASAN!!!!
